Art and Therapy

Art, Therapy and Looking Inward

Sometimes words are a cognitive strain. For some people true feelings may be more easily accessed through an experiential ‘somatic’ and ‘creative’ art process.

This can be a very powerful healing experience.

The process is similar to tapping into your dream world, where a vision, symbol or impression rises to the surface of your ordinary waking state.

During therapy, I invite you to allow unconscious emotions or triggers to be naturally expressed through different art mediums such as painting, drawing, clay work, poetry, myth, storytelling, ritual and dance.

Clearer insight and new perspectives of understanding can be reached after the process, as we interpret the meaning of these expressions and make connection to them symbolically.

The dream arises from a part of the mind unknown to us, but none the less important, and is concerned with the desires for the approaching day.
